An actor, writer and film advisor, Dixon studied at HB Studios and lives with his wife and son in NYC.

He is the author of the experimental memoir, There’s a Person in Here, under the pseudonym, James Patrick.

Of the memoir, Kirkus remarked:

“A moving account of the profound moments in one man’s life…Patrick is painfully honest…
these poems gently tug at the heart strings…the rare love poems shimmer with joy…“

Dixon originally performed as a member of The Villanova Theater Group, on local New York City stages
and in TV commercials. His first feature film role was as the medical examiner in Lodge Kerrigan’s first award-winning feature, clean, shaven.

Dixon has appeared in a variety of features and performed in James N. Kienitz Wilkins’ Mediums (Whitney Biennial, New York, and The Tate Modern, London) as well as Mr. Wilkin’s award winning, controversial radio play, The Republic. Dixon is also a co-producer of The Plagiarist, by writers James N. Kienitz Wilkins and Robin Schavoir.

Currently, Dixon’s work can be found on iTunes and Amazon Prime in the award winning, EVOL, Michael Perrone’s debut feature, and in the award-winning writer/director Roger Hayn’s first feature, Congratulations Debby, as the disturbed Micheal, which premiered and streams on memory.is and eternal family.com; and on tubi in Sean Melia’s Hank Boyd is Dead, as Stan, the nosy neighbor.

On the short festival circuit, Dixon can be seen in Shukai Wang’s 7045 Steps, Brian Tracey’s Down and Away, Tziv Friedman’s, The Walker and Gleb Osatinki’s, Father. Dixon and Gleb are also in post production on Resentment, Gleb’s memory film about growing up in, and leaving, an antisemitic Ukraine in 1987.

Dixon appears as Simon, in European director Sandeep Kumar’s internationally award winning comedic short, Another Day in Manhattan, having premiered in Vienna, Austria and winning Dixon two Best Actor Awards. (The Art is Alive Film Festival and The Indo-French International Film Festival) The sequel, Another Christmas in Manhattan, is in post production. In addition, Dixon and Sandeep are collaborating on a feature entitled, Chasing William, about an ageing man’s disturbingly misguided search for happiness.

He is an Executive Producer of Michael Perrone’s second feature, The Man Behind the Camera, (Co-starring as disgraced, alcoholic reporter Walter Hughes) set for international release late 2023. He also created the role of Frank Zucarello in Ise White's first feature, the poignant madcap dramady, Frank & Edna Take On Lemans.

He is also the founder of two content development concerns: Film Treatments on line, where he promotes the sale of film concepts; and, The Perception Tapes online, where he markets "re-discovered" fictional audio tapes that challange the listeners belief system.

Dixon is a colon and pancreatic cancer survivor, has been married twice, divorced once, the father of four (three survive) and a grandfather three times. He also survived thirty years in the ad industry. The recurring spirit/theme of all his work can be best described by his motto:

“Don’t let the bastards wear you down.”

Dixon is an actor, writer, and film advisor.

An award-winning SAG/AFTRA actor, Dixon was a member of The Villanova Theater Group and studied at HB Studios, in New York. He has performed in a variety of local and New York City stages, multiple TV commercials and has appeared in over thirty films.

He specializes in creating original characters facing inner turmoil and who are quite possibly at the end of their rope. Like the disturbed and almost silent Michael in Roger Hayn’s, Congratulations Debby, the impossibly talkative, Franklyn, in Tzvi Friedman’s, The Loser Monologues, or the disgraced, alcoholic newspaper reporter Walter Hughes, in Mike Perrone’s second feature, The Man Behind the Camera.

Drunks, abusers, Alzheimer’s patients, depressed circus employees, failures, psychopaths, oppressive fathers, even an emotionally regretful talking frog. Dixon’s characters usually face redemption, or destruction.

His work has appeared at Berlinale, Cannes, The Whitney Biennial in New York, The Tate Modern in London, and various festivals worldwide, and can be seen on Amazon Prime, Eternal Family TV, iTunes, Memory Channel, Mubi, The Criterion Channel, and Tubi.

He was Executive Producer for Lodge Kerrigan’s groundbreaking first feature, clean, shaven and is currently Executive Producer for Resentment (Obraza), by award winning writer/director, Gleb Osatinski, screening at Berlinale, February 2024. Additional production credits include, Executive Producer for Michael Perrone’s award winning second feature, The Man Behind the Camera; Co-producer of The Plagiarist, by award winning writers, James N. Kienitz Wilkins and Robin Schavoir; and Executive Producer of Otherland, by Alex Brisker and Alexander Le Bas.

As a writer, he published an experimental memoir, under the pseudonym James Patrick, titled, There's a Person in Here, of which Kirkus Reviews remarked: “A moving account of the profound moments in one man's life.”  Dixon is also creator/writer for two online ventures. He created The Perception Tapes, which offers downloads of fictionalized “lost/rediscovered” audio tapes that challenge a listener's belief system; and Feature Film Treatments, where he offers a variety of feature film treatments for option or purchase.

He also advises and contributes to the development of successful outcomes for film projects, including Viennese writer-director, Sandeep Kumar’s Another…in Manhattan Series, and specializes in the areas of concept, plot development, character creation, and dialogue.

Dixon is a colon and pancreatic cancer survivor, was married twice, divorced once, the father of four children, (three survive) and a grandfather three times. He also narrowly survived thirty years in the advertising industry.

The recurring spirit/theme of all his work can best be described by his motto:

“Don’t let the bastards wear you down.”
